Miss Mexene® Spanish Rice
2 Tbs. shortening
1 cup uncooked rice
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 16-oz. can tomatoes |
2 tsp. Mexene
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. paprika
1/2 cup water*
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce |
Heat shortening in a large skillet or saucepan. Add rice and brown lightly, stirring constantly. Add remaining
ingredients. Cover pan, let cook slowly without lifting the lid for 30 minutes. *If rice is not sufficiently tender,
add more water, cover and cook slowly until tender. Serve with crisp slices of bacon or melted cheese on top. Serves
5 to 6. |
